February 15 (Thursday)
Official Release of Good Money After Bad
Atomic Quill Press: press.atomicquill.com

February 16 (Friday), 7 pm
Signing: Oak Park Cigar
823 South Oak Park Avenue, Oak Park, IL 60304, 708.848.6909
www.oakparkcigars.com
Dave's cigar shop is a great place to hang out, smoke, watch a
little of the NBA all-star weekend, and play darts, all of which
we plan to do Friday night. It's mostly guys but women are encouraged,
as well, and in fact several are threatening to do just that. There'll
be some food there, too, and Dave is going to raffle off some nice
cognac cigars to book buyers.

February 21 (Wednesday), 7 pm
Reading/Signing: Anderson's Bookshop
5112 Main Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515, 630.963.2665
www.andersonsbookshop.com
Having graduated from Downers Grove South ('83), this is a homecoming,
of sorts, though I'm in Downers Grove a lot to see friends and family.
My mom used to work at DG National, just down the block from Anderson's,
and my first short-lived job was at a place next to the bakery called,
if I remember correctly, People Eaters. Tribeca is a new, and, I think,
important addition to the strip.

February 23 (Friday), 7 pm
Reading/Signing: Read Between The Lynes
129 Van Buren Street, Woodstock, IL 60098, 815.206.5967
www.readbetweenthelynes.com
The Woodstock town square was, of course, the setting for Groundshog Day;
it's almost as pretty in person. After the reading, I'll be at The Gambler
(1232 N. Green Street, McHenry 60050) for at least a few pints of Guinness.

February 24 (Saturday), 1 pm
Reading/Signing: The Bookstore
475 N. Main Street, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137, 630.469.2891
www.justthebookstore.com
This is a great little independent store in a good little downtown,
and it's also the closest reading venue to my old Lombard newspaper office.

February 27 (Tuesday), 7 pm
Reading/Signing: The Book Stall at Chestnut Court
811 Elm Street, Winnetka, IL 60093, 847.446.8880
www.thebookstall.com
I wanted to read here just as an excuse to do some book shopping.
The North Shore is a beehive of literary intrigue, including the
headquarters of StoryQuarterly, which was the first big journal
to publish one of my stories.

March 4 (Sunday), 7 pm
Myopic Poetry Series with Adam Levin
1564 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60622, 773.862.4882

other literary Orangemen for the event.

When I wrote Good Money After Bad,,I was determined
to depict an honest world with the kinds of heartbreaks and moral
confusion and tragedy not so neatly summed up in a broken kneecap.
In this writing workshop, I'll attempt to teach ways invent a fictional
world that arises from intimate knowledge rather than TV myths.

location. We'll start at Scottsdale Stadium for the Cubs-Giants (1:05 pm MST)

so we'll see.
